Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI)
DJSI is an evaluation indices developed by the S&P Dow Jones Indices that evaluates the sustainable practices of major global companies, categorized by a "Governance & Economic Dimension," "Environmental Dimension" and a "Social Dimension."
Since 2020 NEC has been included in the DJSI Asia Pacific Index four years in a row.
FTSE4Good Index Series
This index is created by FTSE Russell, part of the London Stock Exchange Group. Over 4,000 companies are evaluated and those that meet the ESG criteria are included in this index. NEC has been included since 2002 (As of June 2024).
(NEC is a member of the FTSE4Good Index, an equity index series that is designed to facilitate investment in companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards.)
MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes
Designed by MSCI, these indexes are the globally recognized ESG_indexes. Companies that have received high evaluations based on ESG are included in these indexes. (The name of the Indexes was changed from the “MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes” in 2017.)

Euronext Vigeo World 120
This sustainability evaluation index was designed by NYSE Euronext, the world's largest stock exchange group, and Vigeo Eiris, an agency that has expertise in the assessment of companies and organizations based on their practices and performance related to ESG. This index includes the 120 most advanced companies in the European, North American, and Asia Pacific regions based on ESG. NEC has been included continuously since 2012.
ISS ESG Corporate Rating
ISS ESG is an ESG investing solution unit of ISS, the world's leading provider of proxy voting and distribution solutions, and evaluates companies with social and environmental criteria. Companies that are received high evaluation in their industry sectors are rated "Prime." NEC was rated "Prime" in March 2018 in the "Electronics Devices & Appliances" industry sector. (The name of the Indexes was changed from the "oekom Corporate Rating")
CDP (Climate Change, Water Security and Supplier Engagement)
CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. For 2023, more than 740 signatory financial institutions with assets of more than US$136 trillion have requested data on their environmental impacts, risks, and opportunities through the CDP platform. A record-breaking 23,000 companies in the world has responded. NEC has been included in “A List” for both Climate Change and Water Security in 2023 five years in a row.
In our Supplier Engagement Assessment, we were selected as the "Supplier Engagement Leader," the highest rating, for the fourth consecutive year in March 2024 for our efforts to address climate change throughout our supply chain.
EcoVadis
EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, which assesses suppliers with a methodology built on international sustainability standards, covering 190 spend categories and 160+ countries. Its Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. Since 2012 NEC has been awarded “Gold” sustainability ranking in the top 5% companies, and from 2020 we awarded the “Platinum,” that is newly set and places NEC among the top 1% of companies assessed worldwide.
“L-boshi” Certification
“L-boshi” Certification is the recognition by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare.
In April 2016, NEC became the first company to receive the “3-star” mark, the highest level under the “L-boshi” certification program, by meeting all five criteria for certification: recruitment, continued employment, working hours, percentage of women in managerial positions, and diversity of career courses.
Next-generation Support Certification Mark “Platinum Kurumin”
NEC received the “Kurumin” certification as the recognition by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare in 2007, 2012, and 2015.
In 2018, NEC Corporation received the “Platinum Kurumin” certification for continuing the introduction and utilization of suitable work-life balance support systems, and for carrying out these initiatives to an exceptionally high standard. To receive the “Platinum Kurumin” certification, organizations must already have received “Kurumin” certification.
Health & Productivity Stock Selection
NEC Corporation was included in the Health & Productivity Stock Selection by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for the first time in 2022.
Certified Health and Productivity Management Organization Recognition Program
A certification system by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. As a particularly outstanding company among the Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations in 2024, NEC Corporation has been recognized as a member of the White 500.
NEC Awarded “Gold” in PRIDE Index 2023
NEC was awarded the highest rating of “Gold” in PRIDE Index 2023 in Japan.
We met the evaluation criteria for all indices: a declaration of conduct, a community of concerned parties, awareness-raising activities, human resource systems and programs, and social contributions and liaison activities.
Sports Yell Company
In 2017, the Japan Sports Agency established a certification system to support companies that are actively promoting measures to improve employees’ health through sport. NEC received certification in 2017, 2021 and 2023.
