NEC Storage ControlCommand

Functions

Data replication function

NEC Storage ControlCommand offers the setting of operation for data replication function (NEC Storage DynamicDataReplication, NEC Storage RemoteDataReplication) from the application server which is connected to disk array. Replication operations (Indication of creating replicated volumes, separating replicated volume, and restoring) are possible by using command line interface (CLI).

Replication operations

The following replication operations are available by using CLI.

Replicate

Creates a replication volume.

Separate

Separates a replication volume.

Restore

Copies data from a replication volume.

Change control

Changes replication control information (copy mode).

Wait for operation completion

Waits for completion of creation or separation of replica volumes.

Display operating conditions

Displays information on replication state, pair information, copy mode, difference of copy, access control, and volume names by using CLI.

Disk management operations

Operate volumes and file systems by using CLI (e.g. mount/unmount).

Snapshot function

NEC Storage ControlCommand operates from an application server connected to NEC Storage for snapshot function (NEC Storage DynamicSnapVolume) by command line interface (CLI). With this product, backup operation in cooperation with backup software running on a backup server is possible.

Creation of a snapshot

Create a snapshot of a master instantly. Multiple generations of snapshots can be created for a master.

Deletion of a snapshot

Delete any generation of a snapshot. By releasing an area used by a snapshot, storage space is efficiently used.

Restore by a snapshot

Restore a master by any generation of a snapshot.

Snapshot generation management

Generation information is added to each snapshot upon creation of a snapshot. With this function, operation using the latest generation when a snapshot is used is possible.

Disaster recovery function

NEC Storage ControlCommand allows for settings and operations for disaster recovery in data replication between different disk arrays. Replication for atomic groups can be performed together with your operations by using shell scripts with command line interface (CLI).

Atomic group

Multiple pairs of master volumes and replication volumes for remote replication are grouped. Atomic groups allow for securing data consistency for replication volumes, seeing consistency state, and replication on a group basis.
Grouping pairs on a business operation basis secures data consistency for each business operation, which achieves business continuity even if a disaster occurs.

Semi-synchronous sequential assurance

For remote replication, which transmits data asynchronously with I/O of business operations, an order of copying data to replication volumes within an atomic group is guaranteed.
I/O performance for ordinary operations is maintained while data is restored in replication volumes by using recent data.

Data retention function

NEC Storage ControlCommand operates for the data retention function through command line interface of a server connected to NEC Storage. With this function, an archive operation in cooperation with an application on the server is possible.

Operation for data retention function

Through CLI, provides data retention function such as setting and releasing of volume protection.

Setting of volume protection

Sets a protection state and a retention period for a volume and blocks a write operation from a server for a certain period. The protection state can be set as read-enabled or read-disabled.

Change of volume protection setting

Changes a protection state and a retention period for a volume.

Releasing of volume protection

Releases volume protection setting. Upon releasing, data on a volume can be deleted to protect confidentiality of the data.

Display of data retention function

Through CLI, display status of volume protection for data retention function.

Power saving function

NEC Storage ControlCommand commands the power saving function from a server connected to NEC Storage through command line interface (CLI). With this product, power saving operation in cooperation with business running on the server is performed.

Activate/Deactivate a volume

By activating a volume, the volume becomes active status and read/write accessible from a server. If a pool where the volume belongs is inactive, pool is activated.
By deactivating a volume, the volume becomes inactivate status and inaccessible from a server. If all volumes in a pool are deactivated, the pool is also deactivated.

Display use state and rotation state

The use situation of volumes and the operation of pools are displayed.
