Fibre Channel Switch

The WB Series switches are high performance, compact, and low price Fibre Channel Switches with improved connectivity with storages and servers.

  • Fiber Channel Switches can be used to make high-speed connections between servers and storage devices, to construct Storage Area Networks (SAN) with no SPOF (Single Point of Failure).
  • For example, Fiber Channel Switches make it easy to construct systems for the following cases. (1) Connecting a server with a few FC ports to many storage devices. (2) Connecting many servers to a storage device.

Main Functions

High-speed switching function (cut through)

This function allows the switch to perform simultaneous bidirectional data transmission at 32Gbps *1 /16Gbps / 8Gbps. The transmission between ports does not conflict with each other, so that the simultaneous communication between n:n ports is possible.

*1 32Gbps for WBG610 and WBG620

Concurrent operation is possible

Routing function with no Single Point of Failure

By connecting a server and a storage by two or more Fibre Channel Switches, it is easy to make a dual path configuration with No SPOF (Single Point Of Failure).

no Single Point of Failure

Zoning function for data protection

Ports of the switch can be sectioned into specific zones. Access between different zones is denied by this function, limiting unnecessary data access and protecting important data.

Comparison between Switch and HUB

Unlike HUBs, switches support multi-node / application cluster complex and allow flexible system expansion for scalability.

HUB Connection

All connected devices must manage addresses.
Reset operation is necessary for every addition/deletion of nodes.
A failure affects the performance of all nodes.
With increases in the number of ports, conflict between the ports increases, resulting in performance deterioration.

Switch Connection

The switch manages addresses.
Nodes are added or removed separately for each port.
A failed port is separated from other nodes, eliminating influence on their performance.
The more ports, the higher the transfer rates.
