NEC Launches Solutions to Advance Research Information Infrastructure

Supporting Research Data Management and Utilization to Promote Open Science

In recent years, the trend toward open science has accelerated, and research institutions around the world face growing demands for managing, storing, and utilizing research data. From the perspective of further enhancing international research competitiveness and ensuring transparency of research results, there is an increasing need for proper data management, storage obligations, and stronger governance. However, many research institutions are still in the early stages of addressing these challenges and require systems that enable efficient and reliable operations.

Led by the National Institute of Informatics (NII), various services including the NII Research Data Cloud (RDC) are being developed. Individual research institutions are also advancing their own systems. However, they face various challenges such as departmental system optimization, diverse data formats, security requirements, and integration with research processes.

In response, NEC is launching solutions that enable efficient and effective research information infrastructure from implementation to operation.

Value Delivered to Customers Through Advanced Research Information Infrastructure

NEC's Solutions for Advancing Research Information Infrastructure

We provide solutions for the appropriate and efficient use of research data throughout the entire process: generation, analysis, aggregation, management, publication, and utilization of research data.

Overview of Research Information Infrastructure (RII)

Examples of NEC Solutions:

Ultra-high-speed Data Transfer System (UDTS): An ultra-high-speed data transfer system that enables efficient aggregation and sharing of large-scale research data generated by various experimental and measurement equipment and HPC simulations.

Data Provenance System for HPC (DPS4H): An HPC provenance management system that automatically collects and references provenance information such as input/output files and program execution information in HPC simulations.

Data catalog and portal systems that promote research data utilization, including AI-powered capabilities, for collected and stored research data.

ExpEther: Resource pooling and remote resource utilization technology that enables the use of remote computing resources even for sensitive data that cannot be transferred by extending the PCI Express bus over standard Ethernet.

We provide these solutions through total integration tailored to customer environments.
