Opinion Exchange Held with the Fourth Examination Department, Japan Patent Office

On December 1, an opinion exchange was held with Mr. Masahiro Nishina, manager of the Fourth Examination Department, Japan Patent Office, and other patent office staff members.

We introduced our efforts to enhance corporate value with our intellectual property activities as an innovation cycle driver within our company, and the Japan Patent Office provided explanations on recent initiatives and statistical data, including measures related to AI-related inventions. Through the exchange of opinions, we reaffirmed the need to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors for the acquisition and utilization of intellectual property that contributes to business management.

NEC is contributing to the development of a sound intellectual property system through public and private sector collaborations. Going forward, we plan to actively promote the acquisition and utilization of intellectual property, aiming to implement our technologies in a wide range of fields throughout society.
