NEC to participate in "TICAD Business Expo and Conference" and thematic events for TICAD 9

Tokyo, Japan, August 5, 2025NEC Corporation (NEC;TSE:6701) has announced its participation in the "TICAD Business Expo and Conference" and related thematic events for TICAD 9, the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development, to be held in Yokohama, Japan, from Wednesday, August 20 to Friday, August 22, 2025.

At TICAD 9, NEC will promote the importance of public-private partnerships (PPPs) driven by digital technologies and data to address pressing social and economic challenges.

Theme: "Realizing Sustainable Agriculture through Public-Private Partnerships"

  • Overview: Experts from both public and private sectors will share challenges and initiatives in the agriculture sector—including the use of digital technologies, project development, and promoting technology adoption—and discuss pathways toward achieving sustainable agriculture.

Japan Fair (Exhibition Booth):

  • Overview
    As part of the "Climate Solutions" category, NEC will present real-world case studies and conduct live demonstrations of innovative technologies in collaboration with international organizations and partners. These technologies are designed to address global challenges across multiple sectors:
    • Agriculture Sector:
      Live demonstrations of solutions supporting the agricultural value chain:
    • CropScope - An advanced agricultural ICT platform for monitoring and managing crop production.
    • e-Voucher - A digital system for efficiently distributing agricultural inputs.
    • Healthcare Sector:
      Presentation of case studies on mobile applications supporting:
    • Maternal and child nutrition
    • Screening for non-communicable diseases (NCD)
      These initiatives aim to strengthen the capacity of community health workers.
    • Security Sector:
      Hands-on demonstrations of NEC’s advanced biometric solutions, including a facial recognition system currently deployed near border regions—highlighting their contribution to regional safety and security.
