UNIDO
Co-creation with NEC
At the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7), held in Yokohama in 2019, UNIDO and NEC signed an MOU on a global collaboration and partnership framework to develop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions for inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID). Based on the MOU, UNIDO and NEC are co-creating projects for the use of ICT in industrial developments, etc.

Co-creation with NEC
Gavi, Simprints and NEC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the promotion of vaccine immunization among young children in developing countries, using fingerprint recognition technology to identify them.
One in four children in the world do not have any official ID, some of whom have no birth records meaning they do not “officially” exist. This makes registration and follow-up of vaccination extremely difficult.
The use of fingerprint authentication technology that combines Simprints' high performance fingerprint scanners especially for harsh environment with the world’s most accurate fingerprint authentication technology by NEC, aim to verify the identity of children who do not have IDs, enabling impartial distribution of vaccines and efficient management of vaccination records.

GAVI (Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization promotes a healthy future for children by providing vaccinations to children around the world who do not have access to them, as well as accelerating the introduction and distribution of life-saving vaccines and increasing vaccination coverage in developing countries, while strengthening health systems and shaping an appropriate vaccine market.

Simprints (Simprints Technology Ltd.) is a biometrics start-up (with about 50 employees) based in Cambridge, in the UK. A spin-off from the University of Cambridge, the company develops biometric solutions that can be used amid harsh environments in developing countries. The company has partnerships with various international organizations via which it has introduced its products in several countries.

ICRC
Co-creation with NEC
In 2021, ICRC and NEC signed an MOU to utilize Japanese technology in finding solutions to global humanitarian problems in conflict areas. In accordance to the MOU, we will pursue the realization of the discussed "utilization of Japanese technology for the resolution of humanitarian issues in conflict areas", and aim to enable people to enjoy higher levels of safety and security in their daily lives.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.
The ICRC also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
