The world's top eight men and women compete in the inaugural NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

NEC concludes a partnership agreement with the International Wheelchair Tennis Federation (IWTF; fully incorporated into the ITF in 1998) and begins its sponsorship of the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour.
1991
NEC begins sponsoring the first NEC All Japan Wheelchair Tennis Masters organized by the Japan Wheelchair Tennis Association and the Yoshida Memorial Tennis Training Center as a title sponsor.
