NEC's vision of LTE rollout is based on the assumption that services and applications demand higher throughput in both uplink and downlink. NEC's “all-in-one” eNodeB solutions enable high-speed data access for capacity-driven network and contribute for the quickest LTE service launch.

–Think Big, Buy Small–
NEC's all-in-one eNodeB provides a cost-efficient yet highly-capable design, which realizes a capacity-driven Small Cell network while simultaneously plays an important cost-simplification role through network development to operation phase. It is specifically designed to reduce both CAPEX and OPEX, thus minimizing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the LTE network providers, while its optimized high capacity design boosts the revenue stream and further stimulates business transformation. In addition, this future-proof platform is prepared for next generation LTE-advanced with simple software upgrade.
NEC provides a compact and lightweight design that integrates BBU with RRH in a single unit, which we call "all-in-one eNodeB". This site-independent, one-person-lift eNodeB enjoys the freedom of multiple installation options; it can be installed regardless of outdoor or indoor without the need to prepare a special equipment room for the indoor BBU unit , and also can be mounted on a wall or pole with minimum space required.
In addition, NEC all-in-one eNodeB adopts SON "plug-and-play" feature in which eNodeBs are automatically self-configured once switched on at each site.
The result is a radically reduced installation time and its associated costs.
Furthermore, it is another advantage that all-in-one eNodeB fully expands network flexibility by adapting to not only Small-Cell-only network for high speed services but also to Heterogeneous network with enhanced hot-spot service provision and empty-spot free coverage. In order to make deployment flexible, All-in-one eNodeB provides multiple backhaul interface technologies such as microwave, optical fiber and electrical ether that enable LTE network operators to select flexibly upon their site condition.
Ever-increasing high speed data demand is already catching up with what networks can offer. NEC viewpoint is that despite the highest data speed ever achieved, LTE will follow with the booming use of smartphone traffic and diverse services through mobile connections. Understanding the importance of high-capacity in current or future networks, NEC’s all-in-one eNodeB ensures capacity-centric, high quality LTE services for LTE network providers as the most promising solution.
NEC all-in-one eNodeB closely interworks with SON suite features to maintain its optimized high performance by automatically regulating interference or/and other quality-degradations and applying the optimal parameters at each site. SON self-optimization adjusts the associated parameters in constant manner based on thorough analysis, thus keeps the best user experience while minimizing tedious conventional manual operation and maintenance.
NEC's field-proven EMS that provides extensive yet user-friendly O&M capabilities with redundancy supported for high reliability. It also employs standardized interfaces to flexibly connect to the related nodes, including Northbound interfaces that interacts with upper Network Management System (NMS) in a whole network management perspectives.
NEC's environment-aware product design contributes a clean and comfortable environment friendly to human and society by low power consumption, fan less cooling and zero-noise system.
