What Are NEC's Eco Software Services?
NEC Eco Solution
An Eco Solution refers to all the environmentally sound products (Eco software, Eco services, Eco Symbol Star products) during product planning, design, development, commercialization, and customer usage of products, among the software and services offered by NEC.
Eco Software and Eco Services
NEC performs environmental assessment on its software and services. Environmentally sound software and services conforming to all applicable items of environmentally sound assessment set for each software and service category in seven product environmental assessment classifications are designated as "Eco software and Eco service."

Software/Service Eco Symbol Star Standard
The software/service refers to the "Eco Symbol Star" that satisfies the use conditions of the self-declared environmental label that are defined by NEC as the top-runner category that specifically gives excellent consideration to the environment among the Eco software products/services.
The Eco Symbol Star registration conditions include (1) dramatic reduction in CO₂ (CO₂ reduction rate of 50% or more or a CO₂ reduction amount of 1,500 t/year or more), (2) advanced performance that enables expectations in the reduction of environmental impact using NEC's specific technology, (3) high environmental evaluation received inside and outside of NEC, and (4) others such as version upgrading of a Eco Symbol Star product.

Utilization of Environmental Impact Assessment Tools
Environmental impact calculation is smoothly done using tools for environmental impact assessment during Eco Symbol Star certification.
The environmental impact assessment is performed in accordance with the FY 2006 "Guideline for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Eco-Efficiency Evaluation" issued by the Japan Forum on Eco-Efficiency.
