Eco Symbol Star

Contributes to reduction in CO₂ emissions

  • NEC has developed a new technology, ExpEther, that enables, for the first time in the world, computer configurations to be expanded over a network (Ethernet).
  • ExpEther technology enables computer resources to be optimally located, allowing computers to be centralized in data centers while hardware is decentralized. This in turn allows hardware devices to be shared, reducing costs and CO2 emissions.

SX-9

Eco Symbol

Approx. 30%* reduction in
CO₂ emissions

* Compared with HX0830 (released in FY 2008)

  • Low-power SX-9 supercomputer (Eco model) used as an HPC server with the world's fastest CPU core
  • Halves the data transfer performance of the conventional SX-9 without reducing the calculating speed, enabling a reduction in power consumption of 9 kw per node, which translates to a decrease in CO2 emissions of 30.5 tons per year.
  • Delivers a space-saving footprint reduction of 0.33 m2 (17%) per node.
