Environmental governance

To reinforce its environmental governance, NEC has expanded the applicable range of management activities both in Japan and overseas from high-environmental-impact production bases to software and service companies, as well as to independent companies within the NEC Group. Group companies are divided into three types: subsidiaries, non-listed affiliated companies, and listed affiliated companies. The management level for each type is set according to the main items of governance (see the table below).

  1. Deployment of environmental policy and mid-term/fiscal year plans
  2. Design/development of environmentally sound products
  3. Design/development of environmentally sound services
  4. Collection of environmental impact data, for example, on the use of energy and chemical substances
  5. Acquisition of ISO 14001 certification
  6. Release of information useful for daily operations and management such as case studies from other companies, laws and regulations, and global trends
  7. Participation in Environmental training course provided by NEC
  8. Collection of information on both small accidents and serious accidents (including small incidents)
  9. Thorough management based on environmental risk management standards
  10. Review of environmental management audits carried out by NEC
