Legal Compliance Audits

FY 2013

NEC carries out environmental law compliance audits to verify compliance with environmental laws and regulations, as well as the environmental regulations and ordinances of local governments.Beginning in FY 2013, NEC decided to implement annual environmental compliance audits at target manufacturing subsidiaries to enhance risk management. These audits are carried out together with environmental management audits and focus on compliance with revisions to laws and regulations and with required changes to environmental facilities.(As a rule, plants and manufacturing affiliates are audited once every three years as before.) Some problems were found, such as that only the control wind velocity was checked and not the exhaust fans when checking the local exhaust facilities installed at worksites handling organic solvents. However, as in the previous fiscal year, no deficiencies leading to serious environmental pollution or labor accidents were found. We have created a plan to correct these problems and are keeping a close eye on the progress of corrective actions.
