Background on the Face & Facial Parts Monitoring System
In recent years, individuals have been taking greater interest in personal wellness. As part of this, in addition to regular doctor visits, individuals are increasingly using wearable devices, such as watches, that collect and monitor a wide range of health information. However, in order to be effective, wearable devices are required to be put on and taken off, to be charged and repaired when needed, and it is said that many users do not wear them often enough.
The Face & Facial Parts Monitoring System being developed by NEC is based on facial recognition technology that enables non-contact analysis through a smartphone camera that takes just 10 to 60 seconds, which allows users to easily and conveniently monitor their present condition. The product is expected to be released in fiscal 2024 or later.
Features of the Face & Facial Parts Monitoring System
Combined analysis of eye movement and pupil response
By analyzing the minute eye movements caused by involuntary eye muscle contractions, it is possible to more accurately estimate the state of an individual’s body and mind.
Easy monitoring of daily health
The solution can be easily used every day, as it does not require anything to be worn on the body and can conduct analysis through a smartphone camera in just 10 to 60 seconds.
Early detection of abnormality signs
Users can detect signs of abnormality early with ongoing daily analysis of wellness and risk management.
World-class biometric identification and security technology
Developed based on NEC's face recognition technology, which is the core technology of "Bio-IDiom," NEC's portfolio of biometric identification solutions, and boasts the world's No.1 accuracy. User privacy is also ensured through the use of security technologies such as secret biometric authentication and cancelable biometric authentication.
- (*)NEC ranked No.1 numerous times as the world's most accurate face recognition technology in vendor tests conducted by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Evaluation results do not represent recommendations by the U.S. government for specific products.
