NEC Listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI)

Tokyo, November 20, 2020 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced it has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices World Index (DJSI World) and the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices Asia Pacific Index, some of the most prestigious global indices of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investment.

DJSI is an evaluation indices developed by the S&P Dow Jones Indices that evaluates the sustainable practices of major global companies, categorized by a "Governance & Economic Dimension," "Environmental Dimension" and a "Social Dimension." In 2020, approximately 3,500 leading global companies were reviewed, and 323 companies, including 39 Japan-based companies, were selected to the DJSI World.

NEC received high evaluations in sectors such as "Code of Business Conduct" and "Information Security/Cyber Security & System Availability" in the Governance & Economic Dimension, as well as "Environmental Policy and Environmental Management Systems" in the Environmental Dimension, and "Labor Practice Indicators" and "Social Reporting" in the Social Dimension.

NEC became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (*1) in 2005, which was founded on the basic principles of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, and continues to strive to minimize any burdens that business activities may have on society. NEC aims to contribute to the creation of value for society through its business, and to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) launched by the United Nations.

Other than DJSI World and DJSI Asia Pacific, NEC is included in the FTSE4Good Index Series (*2) and the MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes (*3) as part of high evaluations in terms of ESG. In addition, NEC has been awarded a "Platinum" Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ranking, in recognition for being part of the top 1% of companies evaluated by EcoVadis (*4), a France-based CSR rating platform.

Since 2012, NEC has been awarded "Gold" CSR ranking, for top 5% companies, and in 2020, was awarded "Platinum," newly established for top 1% companies.
