NEC Exhibits and Introduces Disaster Preparedness Solutions
at International Forum 2026 on Fire and Disaster Management
NEC Corporation participated in the International Forum 2026 on Fire and Disaster Management, hosted by the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, which was held in Thailand on February 25 and 26, 2026.
The forum was held with the aim of contributing to the enhancement of disaster prevention and response capabilities in both Thailand and Japan.
Through panel discussions organized by the Ministry of Interior of Thailand, as well as presentations of disaster preparedness and firefighting-related products and services by Japanese companies, the forum provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
The event attracted many participants, including government agencies and related organizations involved in disaster preparedness and firefighting in Thailand, such as the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), as well as private-sector stakeholders. From Japan, 22 organizations and companies participated, making the forum a large-scale event.
At the forum, NEC introduced disaster prevention solutions that have been implemented and operated in Japan. With the objective of contributing to the strengthening of Thailand’s disaster resilience, NEC showcased the value of software-based disaster countermeasures, utilizing forecasting and simulation technologies to address challenges related to disaster response in Thailand, including flooding.
NEC conducted a presentation and exhibited its solutions at a booth to demonstrate how predictive and simulation-based technologies can support effective disaster preparedness and response.
In recent years, natural disasters such as torrential rainfall and large-scale earthquakes have occurred more frequently and with increasing severity around the world, driven in part by the impacts of climate change. Thailand experiences flood damage every year, and most recently, a large-scale flood occurred in Hat Yai in November 2025. In addition, in March 2025, an earthquake with its epicenter in Myanmar caused significant human and material damage in Thailand, including the collapse of buildings.
Like Thailand, Japan has experienced numerous natural disasters, including floods, earthquakes, and tsunamis. NEC has an extensive track record of providing disaster prevention solutions to the Japanese government, local governments, and other public institutions. By leveraging the knowledge and experience accumulated through these deployments in Japan, NEC believes it can contribute effectively to disaster prevention and mitigation efforts in Thailand.
At the forum, NEC introduced a range of solutions, including a flood simulation system, a real-time tsunami inundation damage prediction system, an earthquake early warning system, and a disaster information system. Visitors to the exhibition booth expressed strong interest in these solutions, particularly in their proven deployment and operational track records in Japan, and shared high expectations for their potential introduction in Thailand.
NEC will continue to contribute to the realization of a safer, more secure, and resilient society worldwide by globally expanding disaster prevention solutions and advanced technologies that have been proven through operational experience in Japan.
