NEC's third-party evaluation in biometric authentication
NEC began researching fingerprint authentication technology in 1971, launched our first fingerprint authentication system for government in 1982, and has been expanding overseas since the late 1990s. In terms of face recognition, we have been conducting R&D started in 1989 and expanding worldwide since the late 2000s.
NEC is further enhancing its accuracy and speed, which has led to achieving the highest level of global recognition, securing top positions multiple times in vendor tests conducted by the U.S. government. In recent years, we have been advancing authentication technologies for parts other than faces and fingers, and pursuing multimodal systems that combine multiple authentication technologies, expanding their application in various everyday scenes.

NEC's face recognition, iris recognition, and fingerprint recognition technologies have been highly ranked by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
