Regarding a submarine cable system project for Russia delivered by NEC in 2018 that has been reported by certain media outlets today, NEC conducted this transaction after receiving an explanation from the customer that it was for civilian use and confirming the export control laws and regulations of the relevant countries. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, NEC terminated all transactions with this customer.

Submarine cable systems are an important part of social infrastructure, connecting people and nations. Going forward, NEC will continue to contribute to the development of a digital society by providing submarine cable systems that are in accordance with appropriate export controls, even as controls change in response to international conditions.
