Today, technology companies are facing a critical juncture. While organizations that handle AI are everywhere, AI itself continues to advance at a dramatic pace. In this environment, the true test of a company is whether it delivers real value to society. As reflected in the NEC Group's purpose —"to create the social values of safety, security, fairness, and efficiency, aiming to promote a more sustainable world where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential"— we remain both creators and providers of social value. Now more than ever, our ability to execute and realize this commitment is being tested.
We see societal changes taking place, changes that will be remembered many years from now, as an unprecedented tailwind. As AI makes it easier to generate various software, the creation of new value is also accelerating. Every industry structure will be transformed, and the established order will change. In such times, "AI" and "security" are where we leverage our deeply trusted knowledge to deliver truly essential solutions to challenges.
During the five-year Mid-term Management Plan 2025, we built a strong foundation to drive these initiatives forward: redefining our business base in IT services and social infrastructure, reorganizing our structure, and reforming our portfolio—including M&A—to maximize the value provided by the entire NEC Group. We stabilized our financial base by improving our earnings power. We established "NEC BluStellar" as a model to optimally deliver our digital transformation (DX) expertise. We also reshaped our corporate culture through reforms in systems, work styles, and diversification of human resources.
These corporate transformations have been carried out in order to realize our purpose, that is, to deliver social value. The results of numerous initiatives undertaken over roughly 15 years are reflected in the numbers, showing that the NEC Group has moved from a phase of reconstruction to growth. Now, we can envision our future as a leading global tech company in the AI industrial revolution. However, there is still much to be done to achieve definitive results.
With a new mid-term management plan starting from fiscal year 2026, the NEC Group will soar to new heights through a series of initiatives. To thoroughly optimize short-term profits and maximize long-term gains, we will further refine the unique value of the NEC Group. We will strengthen our offerings by enriching NEC BluStellar scenarios, deepen "Client Zero," where we first master advanced technologies internally, and acquire practical knowledge through "Client One" by working with leading customers in each domain. Through these efforts, we will fulfill our role as a leader in the social implementation of AI. Simultaneously, while contributing to national security, we will reinforce our competitiveness in high-level technology fields such as digital infrastructure and expand our reach by engaging in dual-use applications.
We are building frameworks and mechanisms that anticipate the paradigm shift of society in this era of dramatic change. We will promote thought leadership activities to share the value of our technology as we foster innovation and continue to transform our culture so that each of our 110,000 employees proactively drives change.
The corporate transformation towards realizing our purpose is a constant journey of taking on new challenges and delivering innovation with advanced technologies. We can look forward to great things from the NEC Group in fiscal year 2026 and beyond.
