NEC Cloud System (OSS Building Model)
Employing OpenStack in the infrastructure and combining OSS products for infrastructure management, monitoring and control, NEC realizes a cloud environment that is very open, allowing customers to quickly follow the latest technology that features high reliability and scalability.
For telecom carrier customers :
NEC and Netcracker offer an NFVI standard model optimized based on telecom carriers' NFVI requirements and NFV use cases.
It satisfies high performance (ex. low latency and high throughput) required for telecom VNF applications, and is pre-designed according to NFV operational lifecycle such as hardware add-on, integration with VNF manager or NFV orchestrator.
This enables quick introduction of NFVI.
Cloud Platform for IaaS: Converged IT Infrastructure based on OSS
Cloud Platform for IaaS (hereafter, CPI) is pre-designed and pre-validated converged infrastructure for on-premises cloud environment powered by OpenStack and Ceph. It realizes the quick introduction of IaaS environment, so customers can start their business on this on-premises environment quickly.
In this summit, we propose the latest CPI and explain the needs, the features and the benefits of CPI.
We also present the concept of combination with Data Platform for Hadoop (hereafter, DPH). DPH is NEC's large-scale distributed processing platform for Big Data & Analytics.

Zun – Project Update
Monday, November 6, 2:20pm – 2:40pm
We will dig into major issues and user needs, and how those needs can be addressed in current and future development. There are some great features introduced in Zaqar Pike release, such as dead letter queue, notification retry policy, etc.
And audience can get an in-depth look at the top features and enhancements Zaqar plans to deliver in the Queens release.
How Zanata powers upstream collaboration with OpenStack internationalization
Monday, November 6, 2:20pm – 3:00pm
The main goal in OpenStack I18n team is to make OpenStack ubiquitous. To accomplish this, translating and reviewing strings for better quality of outcomes are what translators conveniently do in Zanata. However, what the most powerful aspect using Zanata in I18n team is that Zanata enabled OpenStack I18n team to more collaborates with many OpenStack project teams with development aspect.
In this talk, we explain cool Zanata features which more encourage upstream collaboration for better OpenStack internationalization including Zanata REST APIs, Zanata-cli, OpenStackID integration with Zanata,
and how PO files are managed using Zanata with multiple OpenStack project teams.
OpenStack Tacker – 102 – Hands–on lab
Monday, November 6, 4:20pm – 5:50pm
OpenStack Tacker provides an Open platform for NFV Orchestration and VNF Life cycle management.
In this hands-on lab session showcases an overview of Tacker (what new today), collaboration with HEAT, TOSCA, NETWORKING-SFC.
Lookup NEXT to Design BEST "RESTful API for Cloud"
Tuesday, November 7, 11:40am – 12:20pm
API Gateway is a way to connect your Cloud with real world users. Best the APIs a Cloud has, increase their chance to compete in market.
Now question comes how to provide best APIs. RESTful is the first answer and how to get BEST RESTful with all available design consideration and tools.
I would like to cover advance tools and design consideration for RESTful APIs.
Leveraging Pooled Infrastructure for High Performance computing using Openstack
Wednesday, November 8, 11:00am – 11:40am
Today, digital economy, the Internet of Things, data centers are facing big technical challenges in terms of flexibility and scale. To meet these needs, the modern data center requires the ability to simultaneously handle multiple demands for data storage, networks, numerical analysis, etc from various users. So, composing versatile systems on demand with the needed number of GPGPUs, Accelerator FPGAs and NVMe SSDs according to the workload is much needed.
This presentation covers, how dynamic workloads on pooled infrastructure can be created and managed through OpenStack Valence for various vendor architectures.

Which is the best way to install Kubernetes on OpenStack?
Monday, November 6, 3:00pm – 3:10pm
Kubernetes has become a de facto standard for container orchestration engines. But it's difficult to choose the way to install Kubernetes on OpenStack which you want, because there are so many tools and ways to deploy Kubernetes.
In this session, we will provide the pros and cons from several viewpoints (such as architecture and support status) to select the optimum way to install Kubernetes in your OpenStack environment for troubling OpenStackers.
Truly non-intrusive OpenStack Cinder backup for mission critical systems
Monday, November 6, 4:05pm – 4:15pm
One is the requirements for mission critical systems is to provide reliable volume backup without impacting running system. The recommended way of cinder backup is to unmount volume before backup to avoid crash consistent backup. Unmounting is intrusive in nature and may not be feasible for mission critical systems.
This talk will focus on strategy to achieve non-intrusive cinder backup. Our strategy is based on making guest OS write-through temporarily for snapshot purpose, which is practically same as unmounted volume for snapshot purpose.
Developing and using horizon plugins: lessons and know–hows we learned
Wednesday, November 8, 9:15am – 9:25am
OpenStack Dashboard (Horizon) provides the plugin mechanism and more and more projects implement their dashboard supports as horizon plugins. However, the knowledges on horizon plugins are not shared well, and individual teams maintain their dashboard in their own way.
The authors are maintaining several numbers of horizon plugins. This talks will share our knowledges.
