Tokyo, Japan – November 8, 2017 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced that it will reinforce its organizational structure supporting the development and provision of products that accelerate Digital Transformation (DX) using AI, IoT, and advanced ICT.

In recent years, people and physical things are becoming increasingly connected digitally, and massive amounts of data are being visualized, analyzed, and shared as our surroundings change at an unprecedented speed. Specifically, digital transformation is enabling continued growth and sustainable societies through dramatic efficiency and creation of new value using advanced ICT in enterprise and industrial business activities and in city operations.

In consideration of these DX trends, NEC is expanding its "NEC DX Solutions," a suite of solutions that contribute to making digital transformation possible. NEC is also reinforcing its proposals to customers by leveraging its achievements and knowhow in bringing about its own digital transformation in the areas such as sales and marketing, design and development, production and work style.

Further, within FY2018, NEC will increase to 1,000 personnel its team of specialists responsible for formulation of business models geared at the digital transformation of its customers, verification of advanced technology utilization and sophisticated data analysis.

This team of experts includes: Value Creators, who coordinate the entire process of value creation, from the generation of business ideas to the delivery of value to customers; Evangelists, who provide insight into customer goals based on industry-specific knowhow and the latest technologies, such as AI and IoT; Subject Matter Experts, who generate business ideas based on specialized industry and business knowhow; Data Scientists, who conduct sophisticated analysis of large-scale data collected through IoT and other platforms; and Business Designers, who visualize and bring business ideas into shape.

Moreover, during the current fiscal year, NEC will implement training programs within the NEC Group for a wide range of human resources involved in customers' digital transformation, including architects, system engineers, software developers, sales personnel, and operation & maintenance personnel.
