[Scale of the work]
When I joined, the money scale shocked me
There were more zeros than I had imagined

I heard that running a cable-laying ship for a day is expensive
I was expecting maybe $10 thousand USD
But it was $100 thousand USD, about 15 million yen

A whole system can run into the 100s of millions of dollars
And we manage that with a team of around ten
When I think about it, that's pretty incredible

Clients from numerous countries join in during deployment
It's like a mini international conference
Customers from about 20 countries lined up
I really feel how big the work is

[Team vibe]
Turn around and there's a specialist for just about everything
If I'm stuck, I can ask right away

People love what they do, so they love to talk
You ask a little and they light up — oh, you want to know about that
They keep sharing more and more

[Infrastructure that supports lives]
On a remote island with barely any connectivity
We handed over the cable and launched the service
And when I heard communication was now possible
It really hit me: we're helping for real

In countries or islands getting their first submarine cable
We really feel that impact

Connecting a cable becomes a national project
At the landing, presidents and dignitaries show up
They treat us differently than a typical private company
We're definitely contributing to society on a global scale

Being able to help with my own skill set
I'm genuinely grateful for that

[Unique experiences]
I go on business trips to places I'd never get to visit on my own
Getting woken at 5 a.m. by goats —that's how the day starts
After weeks there
A man on the road says, "You just missed a sea turtle walking by"
The distance shrinks between us, the locals, and the client
I really feel connected

How was the job?
It was great

We're at the cutting edge of technology
Yet projects hinge on very human interactions analog conversations and negotiations
That gap is actually fascinating
