London, December 9, 2013 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today that T-Mobile Netherlands, a Deutsche Telekom Group mobile operator in the Netherlands, has selected NEC to deliver a cloud storage service, "T-Mobile Cloud". The cloud service recently became available for T-Mobile Netherlands' customers.
T-Mobile Cloud gives users a personal cloud environment with the ability to access 5GB of free online storage. They will be able to store, view and edit various files, including photos and documents through a modern, personal cloud-focused user interface, and share files or folders with their family and friends. The files in the online storage are accessible from all major operating systems on connected devices, such as smart phones, tablets and PCs. Users can pay for additional capacity at affordable prices: 25GB for €2.99 per month, 50GB for €5.99 and 100GB for €8.99.
NEC, together with its partner Private Planet, has served as an integral part of this project by implementing "myCloudPlanet" as a platform of "T-Mobile Cloud" and hosting the platform from the data centre located in Netherlands. The platform is designed to simplify and accelerate the delivery of carrier grade personal cloud services, such as cloud storage, cloud data sharing and address book synchronisation.
"Cloud services are becoming part of a consumer's everyday life, so we are excited to partner with such a major operator in launching innovative cloud services in the country," said Nicolae Varvara, vice president and head of Carrier Vertical, NEC Europe. "We firmly believe that, by combining T-Mobile Netherlands' deep understanding of the market needs with our expertise and experience in the carrier cloud arena, we will roll out a highly successful service."
