PT AMSL INDONESIA appoints NEC Indonesia to provide surveillance and technology systems at AEON MALL BSD CITY

Jakarta, 26 May 2015 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) today announced that PT AMSL INDONESIA (AEON MALL SINAR MAS LAND INDONESIA), a specialist shopping mall developer, has appointed NEC Indonesia, a leading info-communications technology provider, to provide video analytics surveillance and infrastructure systems for AEON MALL Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) CITY in Tangerang, Indonesia. PT AMSL INDONESIA is a joint-venture company between PT AEON MALL INDONESIA and Sinar Mas Land.

Sinar Mas Land is a well-known property developer in Southeast Asia with experience of more than 40 years in property development in Indonesia, while AEON MALL is the largest shopping mall developer and operator in Japan. AEON MALL BSD CITY is its first project in Indonesia, with over 100,000 square meters of leased area and is of the biggest shopping malls in BSD CITY.

The suburban mall will have a wide range of tenants such as AEON General Merchandising Store as an anchor tenant. Along with that, it will have various tenants offering daily merchandise and food and beverage outlets, as well as services and entertainment including fashion, sporting goods, music, hobby, an amusement center and cinemas. The mall will encompass 4 stories and facilitate multilevel and ground parking with a capacity to accommodate more than 5,000 vehicles.

Solutions that NEC will be implementing include CCTV systems, people counting systems, facial recognition video analytics and IP telephony infrastructure systems for AEON Mall BSD CITY. Security surveillance cameras covering all public areas will be installed, and will be deployed with NEC's people counting technology that employs sensors to track number of people entering and exiting mall entrances and designated areas. The data can be used to understand customer movements better and to enhance the mall's safety and security, as well as to improve their services.

NEC's innovative facial recognition technology, known as NEC Field Analyst, will also be deployed along with the surveillance cameras to analyse facial images and classify into generic gender and age groupings for visitor profiling and can help improve services and customer engagement.

NEC will also be providing the infrastructure and IP communications servers supporting the full telephony network and communication needs for the management office of AEON Mall, to ensure seamless communication.

NEC will also be providing the cashless payment systems for Food Carnival, one of AEON MALL BSD CITY's food court, which consists of NEC retail terminals and software that will enable cashless transactions for both food court customers and stallholders.
