NEC provides ICT infrastructure for Arena das Dunas in Brazil - NEC partners with OAS for integrating next generation communications technologies -

Tokyo, January 28, 2014 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) , a leading provider of converged network solutions that utilize information and communication technologies (ICT), has partnered with OAS, one Brazil's leading construction companies, to provide ICT infrastructure solutions for Arena das Dunas, a newly completed stadium in the city of Natal, Brazil. The stadium will host matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil(TM).

The stadium's infrastructure includes cutting edge systems that help ensure security, such as networked cameras that monitor the total area of the arena, and advanced fire detection systems. Moreover, the camera system can be upgraded to perform facial recognition functions that analyze the characteristics of people in a particular location, including age, gender, behavior, etc.

The project also includes IP and wireless network infrastructure for telephony, data and images, including the implementation of sophisticated sounds systems and screens that capitalize on NEC's expertise in developing solutions for a variety of arenas in Brazil and other countries.

According to Herberto Yamamuro, president of NEC in Brazil, "Major sporting events taking place in Brazil are opportunities to implement advanced technologies and to contribute to the modernization of society.
