NEC to attend the Packet Microwave & Mobile Backhaul Forum 2013

*** For immediate use September 13, 2013

London and Tokyo, September 13, 2013 - NEC Corporation (NEC) announced today that it will participate in the Packet Microwave & Mobile Backhaul Forum in Dusseldorf, Germany 23-25 September 2013. NEC is providing workshops and presentations on mobile backhaul for the "New Last Mile", sharing their experiences from recent field trials and insight gained from their research in mobile backhaul design.

During the forum, NEC will lead the agenda with two keynote speeches and three workshops. The coordinated speaking and seminar program will focus on the critical role that small cell backhaul solutions and end to end network optimisation functions will play in addressing new challenges in capacity and user experience now faced by 4G network operators around the world.

  1. Keynote speeches
    • Tuesday 24th September at 9:30, "Real world networks: Delivering HD coverage and capacity for Digital Ubiquity"
Dejan Bojic, Director of Global Product Strategy, Mobile Backhaul, will outline NEC's vision for delivering an ‘HD' strategy for capacity and coverage necessary to comfortably fulfil the 4G brand promise. Exploring the necessary changes in business and consumption models, he identifies economically viable models for efficiently serving increasing Digital Ubiquity: ‘more connected devices in more connected places'.

    • Wednesday 25th September at 9:30, "Mobile backhaul analytics and optimisation as the foundation for network differentiation"
Johannes Lessman, Senior Researcher, NEC Laboratories Europe, will introduce NEC's new technologies that can underpin the differentiation of end user quality of experience by automatically optimising backhaul networks.

  2. Workshops (Three NEC workshops will be held on 23rd September from 15:25 to 17:30.)
    • "The toolkit for The New Last Mile", Laszlo Nemes
    • "Real world experience in 60Ghz and E-Band", Patrick Linnebank
    • "Economics for The New Last Mile", Gareth Davies
Dejan Bojic said, "Successful small cell deployments require a new "short" last mile extension to the mobile backhaul, which has new technical needs, business models and economics. As leaders in the New Last Mile, NEC is bringing together its knowledge, portfolio and partnerships to create a one-stop shop for small cell networks. This provides our customers several new ways to work with us in the backhaul with greater business flexibility, shorter time to revenue and dramatically reduced deployment complexity".

In addition, NEC will exhibit its latest microwave solutions and technologies including iPASOLINK SX for urban street-level connectivity and iPASOLINK EX for urban small cell traffic aggregation and distributed RAN "fronthaul".
