Tokyo, October 3, 2012 - The NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) "Medias Tab UL N-08D," the world's lightest 7-inch tablet (*1), and the NEC "LaVie Z" Ultrabook™, the world's lightest product of its kind (*2), took runner-up at CEATEC JAPAN 2012 in the "Products & Services" category for the "CEATEC AWARD 2012," the exhibition's recognition of outstanding technologies, products and services.
NEC's Medias Tab UL (Ultra Light) N-08D, available through Docomo, is approximately the same weight as a single comic book (249g), measures just 7.9mm thick and features cutting-edge vibration technologies that provide users with a realistic tactile experience.
NEC's LaVie Z, provided through NEC Personal Computers, redefines the meaning of Ultrabook™ as the world's first product of its kind to combine a magnesium-lithium alloy and ultra thin magnesium die-casting to provide a 13.3-inch wide display at a lightness of just 875g.
NEC regards this award as recognition of the exceptional technologies featured in each of these products.
