Tokyo, October 1, 2012 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), a leading provider of communication networks and information technology solutions, participates in the 14th edition of Futurecom, a major Latin American Telecommunications and Information Technology event that takes place from October 8 to 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the RioCentro Exhibition Center - Barra da Tijuca.
During the event, NEC will present important concepts for the modernization of communities in a variety of areas through its Smart City solutions and Cloud offerings. Moreover, NEC will demonstrate next-generation solutions for security, LTE, M2M, unified communications and others.
To discuss these trends, NEC keynote speaker, Mr. Kaoru Yano, chairman of NEC Corporation, will address "Smart City Opportunities from an ICT Business Perspective" at a conference on Oct 10, at 11am in the Brazil room. The goal is to introduce new, innovative concepts combined with the daily use of technology in a sustainable manner, particularly relevant for Brazil at this time of high public and private investments.
NEC's cutting edge technologies are already contributing to projects in support of major sporting events that will take place in Brazil in the coming years, including the World Cup and the Olympics. NEC will present these state-of-the-art interactive technologies at booth G8, where smart city simulations will allow participants to experience first-hand the operation and components of a functioning, sustainable smart city.
NEC also participates in three panels. Massato Takakuwa, director of NEC's government business in Brazil, will participate in the "Smart Cities - Challenges and Transforming Solutions for the Citizen" panel on October 10 at 10:10am in the Copacabana conference room, coordinated by journalist Marcio Gomes. Emerson Bazilio Pedreira, NEC's bid manager in Brazil, will discuss "Smallcell, Cognitive Radio, WiFi Offload: Impacts on Mobile Access to New Technologies" on October 10 at 9:30am in the Copacabana conference room, coordinated by Eduardo Levy Cardoso Moreira, president of Virtus. Pedro Panos Mouradian, NEC's director of service business in Brazil, will participate in the panel "Cloud Computing: Debating the Market Developments and Exploring New Business Opportunities in the Cloud" on October 11 at 11:30am in the Leblon conference room, coordinated by journalist Ana Paula Lobo.
