NEC Adds New Advanced One-Socket Servers to Maximize Energy Efficiency and Performance - High-performance, highly reliable servers as an efficient investment for small- and mid-sized corporations, factories and retail stores -

***  For immediate use September 19, 2012

Tokyo, September 19, 2012 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced the launch of its one-socket Express5800/R110e-1E, GT110e and GT110e-S server series today, an ideal series for small and mid-sized corporations, factories and retail stores.

This new group of NEC servers incorporates the newest Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200v2 product family and is equipped with NEC's newly advanced energy control technologies. These features help improve systems' performance and minimize operational costs related to electricity.

"Customers are looking for solutions that provide a high level of electric efficiency and help reduce their operational costs, without having to sacrifice performance, expandability and reliability. These Express5800 servers fulfill these needs with the latest Intel Xeon processor and NEC's advanced technologies, which are both highly efficient and reliable," said Tetsuhide Senta, assistant general manager of the IT Network Global Solutions Division, NEC Corporation.

Primary features of the new Express5800 servers include:

    • Group Power-capping Technology:
Servers are equipped with the NEC ESMPRO Manager (*1), a management software that provides a group power-capping function, which controls the maximum use of electricity for multiple servers. By collectively defining the maximum electricity threshold by server group, the software simplifies the process for changing settings and enables ideal control of the maximum electrical consumption for any system's service level.

  • Improved Electric Performance:
Performance is improved by approximately 20% through the use of the newest Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1200v2 product family for CPUs. Moreover, NEC's enhanced proprietary system cooling technology helps reduce electric consumption by as much as 35% (*2) while maintaining an operational temperature of 40° C (104° F).

Availability
NEC's new Express5800 servers will be available in late September 2012 and progressively distributed worldwide. Shipping dates differ according to model and country.
