London, 17 May 2012 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today that it will outline the advantages of LTE small cell and Het-Net (Heterogeneous Network) for addressing challenges in spectrum, technology and management of future wireless broadband at the LTE World Summit 2012 at CCIB in Barcelona, Spain, May 22nd - 24th, 2012.
Prof. Shahram G Niri, director of Global LTE/SAE Strategy & Solution, NEC Europe, will speak about "High quality, high capacity and cost effective operation for future wireless broadband". The presentation will be held on 23rd May at 15:30 (CET).
Currently, mobile telecom operators are facing the challenge to handle an exponentially increasing and unprecedented capacity demand while trying to be cost-effective. Niri believes LTE small cells will be a key element of a sustainable mobile broadband business in the future.
"The telecom industry has now come to a common understating that future mobile broadband business must offer a much higher capacity and also needs to cope with the continuing traffic increase yet at a low total cost of ownership (TCO). This will not be possible unless we realize LTE small cells in a multi-vendor Het-Net environment through a more intelligent, automated, resilient and efficient self organizing network (SON)."
Prof. Shahram G Niri will also participate in a panel discussion on the topic of "Spectrum management - taking LTE global" on May 24th at 15:20 (CET).
In February, 2012, NEC launched the second generation compact all-in-one LTE base station MB4300. By combining iPASOLINK SX, NEC's latest microwave product for small cell backhaul, it allows operators to roll out LTE service cost-effectively, maximising performance and quality of service (QoS) of the network at the same time.
