Definitions

  • Manager
This module consolidates and manages the information collected by the Agent.
  • Agent
This module monitors the server's processes, services, and performance and reports the resulting monitoring information to the Manager.
  • View
This console displays the information collected by the Manager in the view and issues commands to the server.

Basic features

  • One or more Managers are required for implementation.
  • One or more monitoring terminals are required as an integrated management view.
  • One Agent is required per server to be monitored.
  • One set of licenses (including those for the Agent and options) is required per Manager.
(A five-Agent license may not be used for different Managers. For example, using a five-Agent license for two Agents in Manager A and three Agents in Manager B is not allowed.)
  • Multiple platforms can be selected for a volume license (such as a five-Agent license) as long as enough Agents are licensed.
(For example, a five-Agent license (Windows/Linux) can be used for a combination of two Windows servers and three Linux servers.)

When the Manager is a cluster system

  • Separate Manager licenses are required for the active and standby nodes.
  • One Agent license is required per server to be monitored on the active node.
One HA Option license is required per server to be monitored on the standby node.
  • Because separate monitor terminal licenses must be registered with the active and standby nodes, two monitor terminal licenses are required per monitor terminal.

Optional features

When using the scenario control feature

  • Register the Workflow Manager license with the Manager. One Workflow Agent license is required per Agent that issues a command with the scenario control feature.

When the Manager is a cluster system

  • Separate Workflow Manager licenses are required for the active and standby nodes.
  • The Workflow Agent license is required only for the active node.
  • Registering the HA Option license completes license registration for the standby node.

When using the operation control feature

  • Register the Operations Manager license with the Manager. One Operations Agent license is required per Agent that issues a command with the operation control feature.

When the Manager is a cluster system

  • Separate Operations Manager licenses are required for the active and standby nodes.
  • The Operations Agent license is only required for the active node.
  • Registering the HA Option license completes license registration for the standby node.

When using the Manager linkage feature

  • Register the Hierarchical Manager Option license with the upper-level Manager.
  • One Hierarchical Manager Option license is required per lower-level Manager connected with the upper-level Manager. Register the licenses for the Agents immediately below each Manager.

When the upper-level Manager is a cluster system

  • Because separate Hierarchical Manager Option licenses must be registered with the upper-level Managers of the active and standby nodes, the required number of licenses is equal to twice the number of lower-level Managers.

When the lower-level Manager is a cluster system

  • Because one license is required per Manager connected with the upper-level Manager at the same time (and only one active Manager is connected at a time even in a two-node cluster), the required number of licenses is equal to the number of lower-level Managers (on the active node).
