The investees accounted for on an equity basis together with percentage of the company's ownership are Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (42%), ANRITSU CORPORATION (26%), Toyo Communication Equipment Co., Ltd. (39%), NITSUKO CORPORATION (34%), Nippon Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (35%), Tokin Corporation (41%), NEC Leasing, Ltd. (50%), Sumitomo 3M Limited (25%) and seven other companies at March 31, 1995 (five other companies at March 31, 1994).

Of the 15 companies at March 31, 1995 (13 companies at March 31, 1994) included on the equity basis, the stocks of six companies carried at equity of 98,918 million yen and 101,672 million yen ($1,168,644 thousand) at March 31, 1994 and 1995, respectively, were quoted on the market at an aggregate value of 291,463 million yen and 228,816 million yen ($2,630,069 thousand), respectively, at those dates.

Not included on an equity basis is a significant investment, included in investments and advances --- other, exceeding 20 percent of the outstanding common stock of Japan Electronic Computer Company, Limited, in which, in the opinion of management, the ability to exercise significant influence does not exist as its representation on the board of directors is far less than its percentage of stock.
