Since 2020, Yamaguchi Prefecture has been recruiting pro bono professionals from both inside and outside the prefecture to help address serious regional challenges. Through this initiative, organizations across Yamaguchi have been supported by participants from around the country. NEC Group employees have been actively involved in the Yamaguchi Prefecture Pro Bono Program, with 46 employees registered as of July 2025—representing approximately 40% of all registered participants nationwide (129 total). Each year, NEC employees contribute their expertise to a wide range of projects.
In 2025, NEC hosted an online pre-briefing session for NEC Group employees, led by representatives from Yamaguchi Prefecture, to introduce the program and upcoming projects. This was followed by an in-person networking event held at the NEC Shiba Club titled: “Let’s Talk Pro Bono: Yamaguchi, the Land of ‘Fuku’—Bringing Good Fortune to Communities Through Your Skills.”
Approximately 40 participants, including NEC Group employees and business professionals from the Tokyo metropolitan area who share a desire to support Yamaguchi Prefecture, took part in the event. Attendees exchanged views on regional issues in Yamaguchi, discussed challenges encountered in pro bono activities, and deepened connections in preparation for future support efforts.
