The power behind Assured Mobility is UNIVERGE Wireless Optimized Architecture™ (WOA), bringing a new level of intelligence to your network. WOA routes only call management packets to the new UNIVERGE WL Controllers. This unique feature relieves WLAN bottlenecks while enabling high-quality voice communications.
The UNIVERGE WL5100 Controller is the intelligence behind WOA. Working along with connected Access Points (APs),
it ensures voice call prioritization, fast handover and call admission bandwidth control-all critical to high-quality
wireless voice.
The WOA utilizes the WL5100 Controller to bring a new level of intelligence to network design. WOA routes management packets to the UNIVERGE WL5100 while intelligently routing media packets directly between Access Points (APs). This feature relieves bottlenecks on the network while it reduces delay and jitter for the high quality voice communications you've come to expect from NEC.
WOA network elements include UNIVERGE WL APs (WL1500s) and UNIVERGE WL Controllers. One of those controllers is the UNIVERGE WL5100. With support of as many as 180 WL APs, the WL5100 Controller ensures true centralized management while it makes network scalability a reality. You have a growth path that takes you from small networks with WL1700 APs and MPS Blade Controller networks to large enterprise-size networks.

The UNIVERGE WL1500 Access Point (AP) does the heavy lifting for the WOA, providing direct AP-to-AP wireless connectivity
to mobile clients. The WL1500 APs can be managed by any of the new UNIVERGE WL Controllers or UNIVERGE WL1700 AP.
WL1500 APs provide:
The UNIVERGE WLMS Management Tool automates designing, configuring and deploying WOA. It determines the quantity of APs, their locations and their optimum configuration.
If a WL1500 needs to be replaced, the newly installed AP automatically downloads its correct configuration from the WLMS Management Tool.
WL1500 APs are designed to be inconspicuous in order to blend in with any interior decor. With no data stored on the APs, you need not be concerned about installing them in unsecured areas.
WL1500 APs continuously scan all 802.11 radio space and channels. They report findings to the new UNIVERGE WL Controllers and WLMS.

The unique UNIVERGE WL1700 Access Point (AP) gives branch locations and growing organizations a low-cost, enterprise-grade
WLAN environment. That's because the WL1700 AP serves as both an AP and controller, supporting up to three WL1500 APs or
WL1600 APs.
The WL1700 AP is a self-configuring WLAN switch capable of rapid automatic configuration-without requiring a server or IT expertise on site. You can also configure the WL1700 AP via the Web or the UNIVERGE WLMS Management Tool.
Compact and low cost, the WL1700 AP supports the same feature set as the UNIVERGE WL5050 and WL5100 Controllers, including secure mobility, policy enforcement and AAA and 802.1X offload features.

A full-featured client server application, the UNIVERGE WLMS Management Tool enables you to control your WOA WLAN from one
centralized location. You can use WLMS to plan, configure and monitor the Assured Mobility wireless infrastructure. You can
use various WLMS tools to fine-tune WOA network performance.
Using the WLMS Management Tool, you can make changes live or off-line across the entire network. You can deploy or roll back configurations automatically across the network.
The WLMS Management Tool automatically plans out your WLAN-how many UNIVERGE WL Access Points (APs) you need and where you should install them. It allows you to configure servers, and APs all at once, including your security policies, radio channel and power settings and the roaming profiles of users. The tool automatically verifies configuration updates, and ensures network changes so as to not introduce errors.
