LTE (demonstration)

Long Term Evolution (LTE), the next generation’s standard, featuring scalable bandwidth up to 20Mhz, high throughput, and low latency in a simple architecture, has been researched and developed by NEC since its initial stage.

To address market demand for IP optimized mobile broadband, NEC will release two commercial products in 2010, an LTE-dedicated product and an LTE module.

LTE modules can be added to existing 3G UTRAN assets to negate the need to interrupt services as they replace current assets. In this way, NEC will protect customers’ investments and optimize their technical support as they introduce their LTE services.

3G Evolution

3G services are expanding the market for mobile networks. Operators must evolve by providing multimedia services at higher data rates and lower costs. The solution is to deliver all IP-based services over the air.

Market indicators point to an industry-wide evolution from WCDMA/HSPA to HSPA+ or direct to LTE in the near future. NEC has responded by creating UTRAN products, solutions, and migration scenarios that enable operators to capitalize on emerging and long-term market demands.

NEC is committed to meeting market needs as HSPA mobile systems evolve towards HSPA+ systems, such as CPC, MIMO and high level modulation schemes based on the 3GPP release.

Mobile WiMAX (demonstration)

Our mobile WiMAX solution facilitates the convergence of fixed and mobile networks using flexible architecture and wide-area broadband radio-access technology.

In our booth, you will be able to see some of NEC’s service scenarios made possible by "WiMAX" Broadband Wireless Access systems such as E-WiMAX (secure Enterprise), which uses the E2E secure wireless system, and H-WiMAX (Home entertainment) for virtual home networking on Live.

In Dec. 2007, Taiwan's Tatung selected NEC as their Mobile WiMAX system supplier, while several NEC WiMAX trials are now underway around the world.

Looking towards NGN, NEC provides a total network solution featuring wireless access systems and subscriber stations with roaming support.

Interactive Wireless Network Design (demonstration)

NEC presents an interactive wireless network design platform for cellular network operators and outsourcing suppliers. On this platform, network planning, operations, and customer relations divisions can collaborate and share their knowledge to achieve improvements in network quality that customers will notice.

The platform enables:
enhanced interdivisional cooperation through various representations of network performance such as 3-dimensional radio quality in urban city buildings
easy experimentation on a table-based, touch panel user interface which allows attendants to try their ideas
interactive network planning through a ultra high-speed and highly-accurate radio propagation prediction engine

NEC will unveil a prototype of the interactive wireless network design platform at the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona.

MSAN (Multi-Services Access Network)

NEC’s new MSAN AM3100 Series is one of the world’s fastest, most compact, and most flexible broadband platforms, enabling end-to-end service delivery under a common management platform.

The AM3100 Series is a unique solution that suits all subscriber profiles, including FTTx and xDSL, and provides the applications they demand, such as IPTV, VoD, Games and others. It makes current and future deployments effortless for customers, responding to the challenges of providing fixed, voice, video and data services.

Drawing on 15 years of experience in the most demanding markets and environments, NEC has built a total access platform family that meets all your copper, fiber and applications needs, delivering 280Gbps backplane capacity, 10Gbps capacity per slot backed up with sophisticated support and multi-service flexibility.

NEC understands the pressures on your business and has built a robust delivery platform that will enable tomorrow’s growth.

Mobile Backhaul

The solution to the demand for Mobile Backhaul is PASOLINK NEO and CX2600/2200.

Massive demand for broadband services such as web surfing and entertainment downloads has prompted mobile operators to shift to Ethernet for faster, more cost-efficient transmission and to prepare for the upcoming 3G LTE. Meanwhile, the same operators are exploring legacy and alternative ATM-based services that graft the Ethernet infrastructure onto the existing infrastructure for investment protection.

NEC's Mobile Backhaul Solution offers the best of both worlds with innovations that realize a converged network on a single platform.

IP Voice and Media Solution (demonstration)

NEC’s “Service Convergence Integrated Platform” (SCI Platform) is a new, economically viable, first step solution for delivering converged multimedia and SIP based voice services. The SCI-Platform is a solution for fixed-line carriers and wireless broadband operators that want to quickly deploy VoIP and when ready, smoothly transition to an IMS-based Next Generation Network (NGN).

The major benefits are:
1. A small start solution to establish Voice and Multimedia services
2. New services to create additional carrier revenue
3. Smooth transition to IMS-based NGN

At the NEC’s IP Voice and Media Solution corner, we will present the SCI-Platform’s unique services.

Network Service Platform

NGN is the biggest story of the mobile industry at this time. At the Network Service Platform corner, NEC will introduce and explain our concept of NGN. We will introduce the technologies and issues that operators face when deploying a Next Generation Network and present NEC’s solutions for building a successful NDN business.

At the Network Service Platform corner we will present NEC’s SCI-P solution, the NC 5000, NC7000 and NC 9000 series. We will also be introducing key technologies for successfully deploying NGN such as identity management, eMSC and SDP. We look forward to meeting you in Barcelona.
