Navigation

NEC is your ideal partner for your Navigation systems, and provide full range of solutions from development, integration, and installation to maintenance and training services.
NEC products are approach and landing aids and en-route navigation systems. NEC is one of the very few companies able to offer such a comprehensive range of ground-based conventional navigation systems.
One major product of NEC's satellite navigation applications is the MTSAT satellite based augmentation system (MSAS) for civil aviation using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).

Instrument Landing System (ILS)

NEC brings you the highest level of reliability and safety in Instrument Landing Systems.
The ILS is an navigation tool that provides pilots with very accurate and reliable information ensuring a safe landing under poor visibility. NEC's ILS covers from cost effective CAT I model to high performance CAT III model. For CAT-III applications, NEC's ILS is capable to feed a test signal for verifying monitor functions during operation in order to improve the system integrity, in addition to near and far field monitors.

NEC's DME uses the latest state-of-the-art technologies including signal processing, and provides pilots with accurate distance information between the aircraft and the ground station for safety and efficiency in air traffic. The DME is one of the primary navigation aids used at an airport or en-route. NEC's DME is also suitable for collocation with Instrument Landing System (ILS) or Doppler VHF Omni-directional Radio Range (DVOR), and fully meet ICAO Annex 10 requirements. Of course, we offer quick installation and configuration, local and remote computer based maintenance capabilities with a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI).

MTSAT satellite based augmentation system (MSAS)

NEC is the prime contractor of the MTSAT Satellite based Augmentation System (MSAS) program in Japan. For efficient use of limited airspace, ICAO recommends implementation of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) that provides more accurate position and time data to aircraft.
The MSAS is one of Satellite based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) for GNSS application providing augmentation data for integrity, accuracy, and availability of the GPS via the MTSAT. The user can use GPS as a primary-means navigation aid for en-rout through approach and landing phases of flight.

Illustration of MSAS Operational Concept

The initial MSAS service area will be within Japanese Flight Information Regions. The MSAS service area can be expanded up to MTSAT coverage by adding ground monitoring stations where needed, integrating them with the Master Control Stations in Japan, and conducting system certification.
