NEC Storage NAS Basic Software

Network Control Function

The NEC Storage NAS Basic Software is provided with the Linux IPv4 network control functions. The TOE Gigabit Ethernet card, developed for the purpose of increasing the processing speed of NEC Storage NV Series products, has link aggregation functions for working with various types of network configurations. Each card can accommodate up to two ports of communication channels without increasing CPUs.

TCP/IP offload function using the TOE Gigabit Ethernet card

With NEC Storage NV Series systems, the TOE Gigabit Ethernet cards installed in users' equipment can realize the TCP/IP offload function. Some parts of network processing functions required for NFS or CIFS can be offloaded from the main CPU and given to the CPU included in this TOE Gigabit Ethernet card by using this function.

Link Aggregation

By utilizing link aggregation functions (as per IEEE802.3ad), load sharing, increased bandwidth, and improvement of operational availability can be realized.

This function provides a highly tuned file system and various network protocols such as NFS, CIFS and NDMP.

Secure operation can be maintained by limiting accesses from NFS/CIFS clients or network administrators in different authentication levels.

Various kinds of functions such as cluster configuration functions are supported in order to improve operational availability.
