In this case, backup software products that are compatible with NEC Storage NV Series systems can be installed. By utilizing these software products, systems can be implemented without requiring any backup servers.
The NDMP (Network Data Management Protocol) function is already included in the system as the standard backup interface for NAS products. This interface function is used in an environment in which multiple NAS systems exist. Although an external backup server is required, individual NAS systems are not required to install any backup software. A unified backup system can be established for a heterogeneous environment in which NAS products from different manufacturers are mixed in.
By installing backup software programs into client machines, a centralized backup control system can be realized centered from an external backup server in which similar backup software is installed.
