A single storage system to support 3,000 users'services

One of essential facilities for an enterprise is an E-mail system. How can we implement a backup system for an E-mail system that is of the highest priority among systems that are not allowed to interrupt their services?

For such problems, NEC Storage can offer solutions such as presented in this case example.

Consultation Problems prior to implementation
For such problems, NEC Storage can offer solutions such as presented in this case example.
SolutionSolutions and effects
  • Disk access performance could be the bottleneck because mail servers are to handle a lot of small sized files. Accordingly, an external storage system is required to have high-speed data access capability.
It is considered optimum to offer NEC Storage S2000 series systems that are equipped with fibre channel interfaces to provide high-speed access capability.
While three to four conventional disk arrays may be necessary to process the tasks required, a single NEC Storage S2000 series system can give the same results.
  • As E-mail correspondence is now qualified as legal evidence, all the E-mails to and from customers are to be saved (backed up). However, an E-mail server is considered to be of the highest priority among systems that are not allowed to interrupt their services. As a solution to this situation, the NEC Storage DynamicDataReplication function is utilized in realizing a backup operation that can result in only a few minutes of service interruption.
