Notes for using NEC ESMPRO Manager, NEC ESMPRO Agent on Windows XP Service Pack 2/Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1/Windows Server 2003 R2.
To use NEC ESMPRO Manager or NEC ESMPRO Agent on Windows XP Service Pack 2/Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1/Windows Server 2003 R2, open the Windows Firewall port.
Notes
In Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Firewall is enabled by default. And if firewall is optionally enabled (default is disabled) in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1/Windows Server 2003 R2, NEC ESMPRO Manager and NEC ESMPRO Agent cannot communicate, and then cannot monitor the server.
If Windows Firewall is enabled, open the Windows Firewall ports by the following steps.
(1) From the Start menu, click the Rum.... Input firewall.cpl in Open: box, and click OK.
(2) Click the Exceptions tab in the Windows Firewall dialog box, and then click the Add Port....

(3) In the Add a Port dialog box, fill Name: and Port number: boxes, select TCP or UDP radio button, and then click OK.

Set the following ports in Add a Port dialog box of Windows Firewall on the NEC ESMPRO Manager installed machines,
| Name (can be changed) | Port Number | Protocol | Environment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Communication between managers | 8806 | TCP | In case of communication between managers function is enabled. |
| SNMP Trap | 162 | UDP | In case of Manager Alert (SNMP) is enabled (default) |
| High Reliability Alert | 31134 | TCP | In case of Manager Alert (TCP/IP in Band) is enabled. |
| Web Component | 80 | TCP | When Web Component is used. |

Monitoring a server where multiple IP addresses are set for a single network card.
If a monitored server has multiple IP addresses for a single network card, the IP address of the SNMP Response packet from NEC ESMPRO Agent may differ from the source address in the IP header of the SNMP Request packet from NEC ESMPRO Manager.
In such a case, if NEC ESMPRO Manager receives the Response packet from NEC ESMPRO Agent before Windows Firewall Service starts, the server cannot be monitored thereafter.
On the Operation Window, open [Properties] on the server icon, change the IP address to another one that is set on the monitored server, and reboot the Manager computer.
DMI is not supported by NEC ESMPRO Manager, NEC ESMPRO Agent on Windows XP Service Pack 2/Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1/Windows Server 2003 R2.
