- Q.Can NEC ESMPRO Manager aggregates the alerts from NEC ESMPRO Agents, and sends them as traps to SNMP management products by other vendors?
- A.NEC ESMPRO Manager Ver. 4.17 or later supports the trap redirection function. For details, see the SNMP Trap Redirection Setting Help program menu.
- Q.What is the difference between the 2 values Use own method and Use SNMP Trap Service of the Method of receiving SNMP Trap in the Operation Window?
- A.Use own method is the trap receiving method specific to the ESMPRO products. It cannot co-exist with other network management products that receive SNMP trap. Use SNMP Trap Service means that by using your OS's standard SNMP Trap Service, ESMPRO products can be used with other corresponding products.
- Q.Can Client PC with NEC ESMPRO Manager installed receive alerts from NEC ESMPRO Agent clients after its power was put on, even when the alerts were sent to the PC while its power was off?
- A.There are settings of Retry Interval and Retry Time in Manager Alert (TCP/IP) of NEC ESMPRO Agent. If an alert cannot be notified due to the power of NEC ESMPRO Manager PC is off, the alert is repeatedly sent until it is succeeded according to the Retry Interval (default 5 minutes) and Retry Time (default: 72 hours). In addition, alert operation hours can be set. It is useful if the power of PC is on at the fixed time.
- Q.Can I user RemoteWakeUp function in WAN environment?
- A.If TCP/IP communication is available, RemoteWakeUp function can be used. Note that the direct broadcast setting must be set to the router. For details, refer to the manual attached to your router.
- Q.Servers running Windows and Linux are coexisting. Can NEC ESMPRO Manager monitor each server?
- A.Regardless of the OS types, NEC ESMPRO Manager can monitor servers if NEC ESMPRO Agent is installed on them.
* However, management with Web component based browser, supported versions are limited to NEC ESMPRO 3.7 or later.
- Q.If the versions of NEC ESMPRO Manager and NEC ESMPRO Agent differ, is there any difficulty?
- A.If the version of NEC ESMPRO Manager is equal to or later than ESMPRO Agent, there is no problem. If the version of NEC ESMPRO Manager is earlier than NEC ESMPRO Agent, problems, for example, additional alertd cannot be received, or information cannot be referred will occur. Therefore, NEC ESMPRO Manager must be upgraded to the equal to or higher than NEC ESMPRO Agent.

- Q.Can NEC ESMPRO Agent monitor the logs output by other software?
- A.If the logs are output to EventLog (for Windows) or Syslog (for Linux), they can be monitored by using EventLog Monitoring function (for Windows) or Syslog Monitoring function (for Linux) of the NEC ESMPRO Agent.
* Syslog means the /var/log/messages on Linux.
- Q.Servers running Windows and Linux are coexisting. Can NEC ESMPRO Manager monitor each server?
- A.MIB file of NEC ESMPRO Agent is stored in the following folder on the EXPRESSBUILDER CD-ROM attached to the Express5800 Server system.
