Procedure to create a driver diskette for built-in SCSI controller "aic79xx" and to install OS using it.

- Creation of a driver diskette

  1. Download a diskette image ( filename: aic79xx_1.3.5_rh90.img ) from [ Local ]
  2. Rename the file as follows:
    dd.img
  3. Open a DOS command prompt and execute 'rawrite.exe'. The rawrite.exe file is located in /dosutils directory in the Red Hat Linux 9 Installation CD1.
    According to directions, insert a DOS-formatted floppy diskette into a floppy disk drive, enter the file name "dd.img" and floppy disk drive name "a".

- Installation of OS using the driver diskette

  1. Insert an Installation CD to boot.
  2. When displayed as "boot: ", input "linux dd" and enter.
    Then, insert the driver diskette according to directions.
  3. Regular installation follows after this.

CD-ROM Drive should not be used in DMA mode. Please add /etc/rc.sysinit following description and reboot the system in order to turn DMA off.

- How to load the driver software

  1. Execute the following commands after booting the system:
    N8103-56,
            #modprobe aic7xxx
    N8103-65,
            #modprobe a100u2w
  2. Execute the following command to confirm the driver has been loaded.
            #lsmod

- How to load the driver software automatically after reboot

  1. Add "modprobe a100u2w" or "modprobe a100u2w" in the end of the file "/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit".
