Change BIOS configuration before installation as follows.
  1. Push F2 key during POST and enter BIOS setup menu.
  2. In Advanced tab, turn 'SATA AHCI:' Enable to Disable.
  3. Save configuration and exit.

In certain situations, a kernel hang and a possible panic occurred when disabling the cpufreq daemon. Update kernel 2.6.18-53.1.21.el5 fixes this. See Red Hat Suport Advisory RHSA-2008:0275-7.
