Procedure to create a driver diskette for Configuration 1 [N8103-80] and to install OS using it.- Creation of a driver diskette
- Download a diskette image ( filename: dud-rh90-118j ) from [ here ] or [ LSI Logic Corporation(R) ]
- Rename the file as follows:
dd.img
- Open a DOS command prompt and execute 'rawrite.exe'. The rawrite.exe file is located in /dosutils directory in the Red Hat Linux 9 Installation CD1.
According to directions, insert a DOS-formatted floppy diskette into a floppy disk drive, enter the image file name "dd.img" and floppy disk drive name "a".
- Installation of OS using the driver diskette
- Insert an Installation CD to boot.
- When displayed as "boot: ", input "linux dd" and push enter-key to get into driver-diskette mode.
Then, insert the driver diskette according to directions.- Regular installation procedure follows.
(*2)
The 'Write Policy' of this disk array controller [N8103-73A] must be set as 'Write Through' that is default setting. Otherwise, installation fails.
You can set it as 'Write Back' after installation.(*3)
Procedure to create a driver diskette for Configuration 3 [N8103-74] and to install OS using it.- Creating the driver disk
- Installing with the driver diskette
- Download a zip archive ( filename: 3_ft2xrhb1.zip ) from [ here ] or [ Promise Technology(R) ]
- Extract it, and copy all into a DOS-formatted floppy diskette.
- Insert an Installation CD to boot.
- Following "boot: "in the initial display, input "linux dd" and some kernel parameters as follows.
boot: linux dd ide0=0 ide1=0 ide2=0 ide3=0 ide4=0 ide5=0 ide6=0 ide7=0 ide8=0 ide9=0x1e8,03ee,11
Then, insert the driver diskette according to directions.- At the phase of boot loader configuration, you must set following kernel parameters.
ide0=0 ide1=0 ide2=0 ide3=0 ide4=0 ide5=0 ide6=0 ide7=0 ide8=0 ide9=0x1e8,03ee,11- Regular installation procedure follows.
