NEC and GXS Support Fuji Xerox's Global B2B OperationsLeading Integrators Offer Fuji Xerox Full Visibility into its Global Supply Chain to Effectively Track Global Product Distribution

Tokyo, May 16, 2013 — NEC Corporation (NEC: TSE 6701) and GXS today announced that Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has selected NEC’s cloud services and GXS Managed Services  to provide visibility into its global supply chain. Using the solutions from NEC and GXS, Fuji Xerox will have greater insight into stock information and the location of goods as they travel through the supply chain from the production base to domestic and international distributors.

Fuji Xerox manufactures multi-function printers (MFPs) that are shipped and sold throughout North America, Europe and Asia, creating a global supply chain. In recent years, reporting the status and delivery estimations on products has become increasingly challenging. For each inquiry Fuji Xerox received from its partners, the company needed to email or phone factories and transportation carriers in order to report back on a delivery status. Some distributors have even begun securing extra stock to offset transportation delays.

NEC’s cloud service database and GXS Managed Services now track the shipments between Fuji Xerox and approximately 40 partner companies and more than 1,600 carriers around the world to provide product updates and visibility into Fuji Xerox’s global logistics. Fuji Xerox has utilized the system for shipments between China and Japan since February 2013. Regional shipments between China, Europe and the United States are live and planned for greater expansion across Asia in the near future.

NEC and GXS enable Fuji Xerox to accurately locate and report on the status of each shipment during its international transport. Additionally, this control of inventory enables Fuji Xerox to respond more quickly to inquiries, allocate orders to international shipments and improve the accuracy of production planning.

“As business globalization increases, so does the sophistication of logistics involved in doing business. Companies need to be able to track the flow of goods throughout their supply chain and to effectively manage and deliver inventory,” said Yoshi Tanaka, vice president of Japan sales at GXS. “The solution for Fuji Xerox combines NEC’s database with our experienced B2B integration team to deliver a solution that allows customers to continue to meet the growing demands of international business.”

In addition, Fuji Xerox provides a suite of solutions that enables customers to centralize document management including converting files into electronic documents, sharing information and leveraging documents more effectively. A number of companies, including trade businesses that require a great deal of forms, packing lists and invoices, have already introduced one of these solutions to streamline trade operations. Fuji Xerox leveraged its know-how of trade operations and the partnership with NEC and GXS to enable the visualization of shipping status through such solutions.

NEC’s cloud services provide the visibility into global logistics that is necessary to streamline management and improve business competitiveness.
