Tokyo, February 20, 2013 - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) is providing its "Smart Mobile Cloud" services for smart devices, including smartphones and tablets, in support of "Online-to-Offline" (O2O) verification tests by NTT DOCOMO, INC. that begin today for the carrier's "shoppulatto" service.
In recent years, along with the rapid expansion of smartphones and the development of sensor technologies, efforts have been intensifying to tie the purchasing habits of Internet users (online customers) with the purchasing habits of shoppers at brick-and-mortar stores (offline customers).
NEC's "Smart Mobile Cloud" services promote this O2O movement by supporting NTT DOCOMO's O2O field trials. NEC's services include a "Member Management Service" that verifies users and manages member information, a "Point Management Service" that manages point allotments, a "Push Service" that delivers store information to users and a "Data Analysis Service" that analyzes information on store customers.
The introduction of these cloud services can help drive customers into participating stores and contribute to greater sales through coupon distribution and point allotment in accordance with each customer's preferences and point use.
Going forward, NEC will continue to leverage its "Smart Mobile Cloud" services as part of promoting the expansion of O2O services throughout the world.
