Tokyo, London & Stockholm, 21 December 2012 - NEC Corporation announced that NEC Europe Ltd. (NEC), a wholly owned subsidiary, has signed a multi-million, multi-year global framework contract giving Tele2 Sverige AB the possibility to expand and upgrade Tele2's mobile access network in 10 countries across Europe.
Starting in Russia, NEC will provide its innovative iPASOLINK series of microwave radio solutions. NEC will also provide a range of professional services, such as training and maintenance support services.
The high capacity of NEC's iPASOLINK makes it a strong fit for future backhaul demands. It allows operators to roll out LTE service cost-effectively while maximizing network performance and Quality of Service (QoS) at the same time. Over the years, customer experience has proven iPASOLINK to be a leading microwave platform for Carrier Ethernet, a key enabler of a new generation of mobile transport networks.
"We see more and more mobile operators renewing their mobile backhaul to stay ahead of the continued increase in mobile traffic globally," said Fredrik Tumegård, VP, NEC Europe. "NEC's global leadership in microwave transport technology, manifested in its iPASOLINK series, allows Tele2 to provide the best possible network coverage to their customers in Europe and Russia."
Note to editors
NEC's iPASOLINK series flexibly accommodates today's growing transmission needs through a variety of different interfaces on a single platform. The iPASOLINK series fully supports existing infrastructure such as GSM/3G and the advancement of Tele2 access networks towards LTE and all-IP, which requires a great deal more network capacity and advanced IP-functionality for handling large volumes of IP data traffic.
Thanks to these merits, the iPASOLINK series is today used by more than 230 customers, including operators, broadcasters and government agencies, spanning over 90 countries worldwide. For more information, please visit http://www.nec.com/pasolink/
