A satellite is a large-scale system consisting of half a million parts and components. In terms of structural design, the system can be divided into two subsystems: the "mission system", which is designed to enable satellites to achieve their mission - including communications, broadcast and weather monitoring, and the "bus system", which is required by every satellite.
The many roles satellites play depend on their mission requirements - communications, broadcast, engineering test and Earth observation. Communications subsystems are one of the components of mission systems which are also used in bus systems. Our on-board communications equipment has been chosen for satellite projects in many countries.
