Energy Storage System Management

In the area of next-generation energy infrastructure, in which renewable energy such as photovoltaic power generation will become widely used, NEC promotes research and development of storage systems, which will become increasingly important, and related control technologies. Storage batteries are made possible by charge/discharge control technology allowing the efficient storage and utilization of energy, balance control technology allowing the balanced use of multi-cell batteries, and power control technology for the efficient conversion of the DC power from the battery to AC power for connection to the system, among other technologies.

In particular, we are developing next-generation balance control technologies for realizing long life, stability, and safety for storage systems, whose capacities will keep on increasing, and power control technologies to achieve extremely high power conversion efficiency.

Battery storages are supported by various technologies, such as charge/discharge control technologies allowing the efficient energy use, cell-balancing technologies allowing the balanced use of multi-cell batteries, and power control technologies for the efficient DC/DC and AC/DC power conversion to connect batteries to power line.

In particular, we are developing next-generation cell-balancing technologies to realize long life, stable, and safe battery storages, whose capacities will increase year by year, and power control technologies to achieve extremely high power conversion efficiency.
