Fundamental technologies based on SDN(Software-Defined Networking)

Legacy network is constructed by integrating various network products. And its operation is still manually laboratorious work.
However, as IT systems has been migrating to cloud systems by virtualization technologies and automatic M&A has progressed by far for this decade, Network is also evolving to the new intelligent level by the recent technology breakthrough such as virtualization technology and programmability achieved by Software Defined Network (hereinafter SDN). And “OpenFlow” which is the core of SDN which NEC and some universities have Intensively researched for a few years is just launched to Markets.

Through OpenFlow based Network virtualization technology and its integration with IT virtualization, total flexibility and reliability for whole cloud systems are finally expected to realize.

Cloud System Research Laboratories pursue the research and development of SDN not only for network infrastructure, but also for social fundamental Infrastructures. Main research topics are flexible network architecture to reconfigure, node architecture, resource control and management technologies in cloud systems, collaborative technologies between network and servers / terminals.

And we are working on Open Source Software project, standardization, etc., for driving “Open Innovation” Based on our output. Also we are proceeding joint research project with research institutes in US and Europe to accelerate our research both overseas and in Japan.
